Funnily enough, the walls of my home are still awaiting paintings! There are only two that I have hung - one (below left) which I did with the kidlets (LOVE), and another (below centre) which is an abstract landscape from a few years ago that I'm contemplating adding another layer to at the moment... Knocked the below right one up the other day for my entryway... wanted something calm and peaceful. Not sure it's finished yet... maybe a bit TOO calm?...kinda want to mess it up a bit...
Working with Kindergarten students is by far my absolute favourite arty thing to do! Here are just a teeny tiny few examples of their gorgeous work from art lessons this year. Pure joy!
Another commissioned piece for a local client. Gorgeous home, gorgeous family! This one is to hang in their dining area. My client chose an image of another painting that she liked and my brief was to do something similar, but make it softer, more 'drippy' and with more green! A really large piece - 1534 x 1219 in acrylic on canvas. Loved blending the background of this one! Thank you flowers again by the lovely Tina @theflowerpavilion to match the painting.
I recently finished this commissioned painting, which was for the dining room of a gorgeous family home on the central coast of NSW. The brief was to make it abstract, watery, relaxed and in my client's favourite shades of blue. Had so much fun playing with the water spray bottle on this one! I have also teamed up with Tina @theflowerpavilion.com.au who creates gorgeous bunches of flowers to echo my commissioned pieces as a thank you to my clients. Her work is stunning!
So much going on in the studio at the moment! Have a massive 1m x 2m painting of Sydney Harbour underway, 6 commissions lined up, new works for Penny Farthing in various stages of completion... it's all happening! Yay for busy! Have also started posting on Instagram recently... follow me @heatherbrodieart!
Has been really exciting this year to see some of my work begin to pop up in different places - thanks to Penny Farthing Design House! Temple & Webster, North Shore Living Magazine and Gallery promos! Hooray!
Working from home with a toddler constantly underfoot is both wonderful and challenging... it takes a lot of patience, flexibility and the necessity to relax about time frames - and mess! I don't nearly get through what I aim to in a day and my chunks of time are really unpredictable. Some days I don't even make it into the studio at all... and some days there are priceless moments like these when we are both happily painting away together...
Okay, so I'm just a tad excited to say that the very first few works of mine for Penny Farthing Design House are rolling into their Balmain gallery. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to work with such lovely people! Their choice of sizing, framing and expert styling (check out their gorgeously styled pics through the above link) are just gorgeous for my prints and I'm thrilled to bits! I happy snapped these pics of a few of my pieces when I popped in...
The beginning of this year held a very exciting adventure in store. A decision to not return to classroom teaching until my littlest is a little bigger, and instead work from home creating artwork in my studio! Hooray! I have to say, from the very outset, that none of this would be underway without the encouragement and support of some really incredible people in my life - you know who you all are, and I'm so grateful for your enthusiasm and positivity!
The year kicked off with the creation of a commissioned piece for a gorgeous friend of mine who married her handsome prince in January. She was really specific about what she wanted and, after chasing me for about a year to dust off my paintbrushes and do it for her, it was finally time. She named it "New Beginnings', which was so apt for both of us!
Big love and all the happiness in the world to Robbie, Alex and Ella xxx
